CIDT has a long history of offering training and courses for capacity strengthening to a range of international development sectors and specialisms.

Our training approach

CIDT favours an experiential approach to training which is consistent with best practice for adult learning. Typically participants:

  • are facilitated through a process of experience, reflection, conceptualisation and planning.
  • are able to use their own experience as a basis for learning.
  • view content through the lens of their existing roles, responsibilities and challenges.
  • can immediately begin to put into practice what they have learned.

Our courses

Managing for Development Results (MfDR)

MfDR courses include both training and facilitated workshops. Facilitated events can achieve a double outcome – building participant skills and producing a workshop output, such as a strategy, funding proposal or participant consensus.

CIDT has produced a set of participant handbooks and trainer guides that we continually adapt and can tailor them to specific sectors and client contexts. Using participatory methods, we take diverse groups of participants through a reflective process, using practical tools at each step.

Online learning with CIDT

We offer comprehensive, self-paced e-learning courses for individuals and teams through our online platform. Our two core courses have been taken by hundreds of international development practitioners and can be customised for your organisation.

Additionally, we can offer bespoke design and development of engaging elearning courses on any topic required, using industry leading authoring software.
