Forest Governance
Our approach
CIDT has longstanding experience in capacity strengthening in natural resource management across the globe, which aims to improve the livelihoods of vulnerable people and sustain their natural resource base.
We have a long and proven track record in building technical capacity in Forest Governance across sectors and working to increase community participation in forest governance.
We have delivered against contracts for the European Union, the United Kingdom Department for International Development (DFID), SNV (Netherlands Development Organisation), the United Nations Development Programme, Farm Africa, and World Bank and have run after the Improving Forest Governance training course for 5 years to over 100 participants.
CIDT successfully delivered the EU-funded project on Strengthening African Forest Governance, a capacity strengthening project in Cameroon, DRC, Ghana and Liberia which ran from 2011-2014; and an EU funded project in Cameroon and CAR with partners FERN and FPP, focused on championing forest people’s rights. We currently implement the Citizen Voices for Change (CV4C) project with EU and DFID funding, in partnership with seven non-state actors in 5 countries of the Congo Basin.
