Course overview

This training explores the role of participants as members of a team. At various points in the work cycle individuals are drawn together to work on specific tasks as a team. Thrown into challenging and often stressful situations it is invaluable to understand the way that people behave and effective teams operate. This training will enable participants to effectively collaborate and get the best from themselves and their team members.  The course can be targeted at an existing team or department, focusing on break down sectoral barriers, improve communication across the organization and sharing team-working lessons to improve the organization’s efficiency and effectiveness.

Course objectives

By the end of the training participants will be able to:

  • Be aware of the different team roles and resources that support the effective team
  • Recognize the group dynamics of team formation and performance and develop strategies to manage them
  • Understand the process of ‘tackle a task’ and be able to facilitate it through the use of simple participatory tools
  • See the potential of team work to develop both the team and the individuals

Approach

Our courses utilise a variety of methodologies, such as role play, reflective questionnaire, case studies, reflective journal, participatory analysis tools and much more. We design programmes to include a useful mix of hard and soft skills, combining practical tools and tips with brief ‘theoretical’ inputs where relevant.

At CIDT we are great believers in experiential learning. Therefore our courses and workshops are very participatory and active in nature, so be prepared to share your ideas, experiences, problems, challenges and practices with other. We also believe that learning should be fun – so please also bring your sense of humor with you!
